My Morning Jacket

I attended a concert last Friday at the Greek Theater in Berkeley.  Safe to say, my favorite band right now: My Morning Jacket.  I couldn’t tell you who the opening act was… I was too busy texting somebody with a 707 number was going to buy my extra ticket.  Blue hat, if you are reading this, thanks for paying me back – That made things pretty worthwhile!

Let me first describe the ambiance of the evening.  It was misty and foggy.. felt like rain when I biked there from Oakland. I parked my bike in some wet bushes by a Berkeley dorm.  I paraded through the line of people through the bag check (blunt hidden in wallet) and into the GA show.   The Greek was pretty cool.  LOVED the fact that it was GA and I could get a good seat (standing spot). The Eucalyptus lining the ”arena?” added that touch of authenticness needed for a night show in Berkeley.  Before I knew it MMJ was on -felt like I didnt even have to wait for anything.  I was not prepared… I let 2 songs pass before I opened my ziplock baggie with my Grape-a-licious blunt.  Others around me were lighting bowls and dancing, as Berkeley-ians do.  No one expected it when I lit up my Chronic.  It took me a minute to get through it (or almost all the way thru.)  Pretty soon I was in my element and the show was getting good.

Dancing. Guitars. The bass player was clever to watch. the drummer was off the hook.  Their slow jams put me into a stoner trance. Best songs: Touch Me I’m going to scream Pt. 2, Highly Suspicious (live was unexpected and highly enjoyable), Sec Walken and Smokin’ from Shootin. Also everything that they played from “Tennesse Fire” was awesome too bc that album is ridiculously TIGHT.

Next time this band comes to town, I recommend checking them out. It was for sure a quality show, a treat for a MMJ fan.

Thank you Jeanne! My co-worker, who coincidentally is going thru the same shit I am….being dumped by a commitment-aphobic dude…got talkin to me last week.  She wants to set me up with a FireFighter(!)! and more importantly the one I have a mega super crush on… She had an update for me today and that is that he has that “paramedic attitude going on” and she wasn’t too pleased with that!! She is going to find out more though…yahooo ! Hope he aint a jerk. but ahh…. there’s a county full of firefighters that I can choose from!

My job is really treating me well right now.  Today was the 30 yr. anniversary of EMS in CCCounty.  I won the first Raffle – A double mug set from Starbeezy’s with coffee, tea and cocoa. Iddn’t that Nice. I also won a “Reach” hat as in the helicopter company.

I stopped by Berkeley yesterday and picked up the new:

• JAY-Z (Jigga Man) cd. “American Gangster”
• also 5 new pairs of panties from a cute lil underwear store off of Telegraph.
  How Fun!!! My future FF bf will love them….

Keyshia Baby on Friday!!!

hEllo everybody.

 so it appears that I am in a bind. This Friday night, Ms. Keyshia Cole is having a concert at Mezzanine in SF. I WOULD SOO BE THERE, but you need a valid 21+ ID, and I have nothing of the sort ! I may try to roll in with a birth certificate and my 2002 high school ID to see if I’m old enough to see Keyshia! I mean,  I gotta go, I’m ManHating (on a few…) and need to feel some woman empowerment.

Some songs I’d love to hear live: LAST NIGHT (even though it’s Diddy’s joint), I Changed my Mind, I Should Have Cheated, Let it go.. Basically all of the hits, because I don’t  own her cd (SHAME). I love Keyshia! Her voice is amaaaazzing and her lyrics make me cringe just cause theyre so Dead ON! In a good way.

I have listened to hella music today.  All solid albums too, right now I’m really getting into AIR, Talkie Walkie.

Songs on this album include: VENUS, CHERRY BLOSSOM GIRL, SURFING ON A ROCKET, ALPHA BETA GAGA and more awesome tunes. It fits nicely with the laser show on my windows media player.

These are my recommendations for the day:

“Burnin’” is a great album.  There are some classics that everyone knows such as “Get up, Stand up” and “I Shot the Sheriff” but also Dope tracks that not everyone knows like “Pass it on” “Put it On” and “Small Axe”.

Weezer Blue is self explanatory, it’s always cool to have in the rotation.

James  Brown, Sex Machine.  Well I had a greatest hits on, but Sex Machine was the song I wanted to “get into”. Also “Man’s World” is my fave.

Outkast greatest hits is a must have.  Every track you wanna hurr is on it.  Tight joints include “Crumblin Erb” and the “Cadillac” song.

Beastie Boys’ new album is pretty chill. Its instrumental, so there are no annoying songs to skip (not that that is usually a problem with them).  They are Off the GRID!
